Into The Mountains

After spending time in Hammerfast, our intrepid party decided to head for the mountains to help Copper with his quest and look for the Fire Opal. Copper, Visha, Hao Shu and Xena made their way to the foothills on a direct route into the mountains where the Fire Opal is famed to be awaiting discovery, a 2 day journey saw oour party arrive at a strange maze of 15ft high Hedging and looking for a way through this maze. Xena climbed one of the hedges to try and find a rough passage through the maze to what lay on the other side, upon travelling through the maze, Copper triggers a trap of poison darts which hits Visha and Hao Shu(who shook of the effects) the part encountered a guard and a drake. Copper explains to the guard the reason for the party arriving, Hao Shu moves up and again sets of the trap, before Xena attempts to disarm the trap but fails and several members are hit by poison darts once more.

The angry drake proceeds to attack Hao Shu as battle commences, a second drake appears and proceeds to attack Visha giving her a light wound, Copper goes into battle with the 1st drake, Xena moves in to help Visha fighting the 2nd Drake. At this point a 2nd Guard arrives and attacks Xena, Xena inspires fortitude to heal herself and aid her friends, while Visha attacks with a double attack causing major hits on the 2nd Drake. The battle continues with Hao Shu bloodying the 1st Drake, the drake enraged delivers a critical hit to Hao Shu, while Visha is bloodied from the 2nd Drake attacking, at this point she strikes out and kills the 2nd Drake. Copper moves in to aid Xena, who is hit heavily and bloodied, knocked to the ground and much pain, Hao Shu strikes and kills the 1st Drake, Visha strikes out a mighty blow as the guard surrenders. Copper questions the guard about the monastery and waht may lie ahead for our party, we decide to proceed into the old Monastery, we come across two statues, the statue animates and Copper explains that we mean no harm and are here on a good mission. Visha discovers reinforced doors, while Xena uses her religion knowledge to understand the runes have something to do with the God Moradin but cannot ascertain anything further. Visha tries to examine a rune and takes damage but with no success, Hao Shu speaks to the statue who reveals something about a dwarf beginning with the letter “G” the statues states that the Spider King will kill all who are evil. Xena agrees to wrestle the statue and unfortunately fails and ends up with a broken arm and alot of pain, Hao Shu successfully passes a diplomacy check with the statue and the doors open, at this point (Visha, Hao Shu, Copper and Xena have gained improvement(level up)). The party move into what appears an old very dusty library with much rubble laying around, and many books on the shelves, but we are not alone, eyes watch through the books, as the party start to investigate Xena is knocked to the ground as bookshelves are pushed over. The other members of the party are also knocked to the ground, Xena’s goes into a rage as she sees Poltergeists but misses her initial attack, Visha and Xena take heavy damage in the initial attacks, the party moves into combat once more with Xena getting heavily hit and bloodied. Visha is strongly in combat taking several hits as she fights with a poltergiest, Visha kills one of the undead as Copper helps to heal a battered Xena, with renewed vigour Xena hits out with Whirling Blade missing one target, but striking the 2nd target. As the combat progresses the party are taking much damage and getting heavily subdued, at this point Hao Shu drops to the floor and is in real trouble while Visha discovers the location of a key we need, the party focuses on the poltergiest to get the key from. Xena tries to revive her comrade Hao Shu but fails, Visha is hit hard and falls unconscious, Hao Shu who is back on his feet joins Copper in attacking the Poltergiests but then gets critically hit twice and once again falls unconscious the battle is now dragging on and our party is feeling the tiredness and effects of combat.

Visha who has recovered somewhat joins Xena in trying to wrestle the key from the Poltergiest but with no success, Copper is able to stabilise Hao Shu, Xena hits two targets and retreats from combat while Visha gets hit hard and again falls unconscious, Xena is able to kill one of the two remaining Poltergiests but is then hit hard and falls unconscious, poor old Copper is left to stabilise a dying Hao Shu, Visha and Xena, while the remaining Poltergiest stops attacking. After much resting Copper is able to revive the three dying members of party, what lies in store next for our battered party….....

Ghosts of the Past and Future

All the members of the group made it to Gilstan and the Golden Raven Inn in time for a late lunch on the 18th of Full Bloom. As they sat around the table Copper graciously offered to buy them all a drink. Hao Shu chose tea; Jin stuck with a tall glass of water; Terios, perhaps due to some influence of the Minotaur invasion of the Silvanesti forests chose elven wine; Visha also chose elven wine; Xena simply stated Ale and Copper not know what strength exactly she wanted chose for her something called Hammerfast Export, to which many eyes in the place fell on the Genasi as she drank it straight down without much of a rest in between drafts. Soon after catchin up with one another they were approached by Garan Silverfox, a human storyteller looking for material to place in his book about adventurers and he offered them a reasonable sum for their stories and permission to use their images; an offer which four of them excepted with Hao Shu pleading modesty and Visha simply stated that no one would be interested. Soon after, Xena now on her third Hammerfast Export,the group was approached by Alexandra who asked them to change seats as the table they were sitting at was haunted and the ghost was due along any moment. The group was very happy to oblige but, as they were packing up their things to move the ghost made its appearance. It appeared a pale reflection of a warforged whom had been known as Onyx during his lifetime. The ghost stated simply that they must hurry as the fort was being overrun and were in desperate need of reinforcement. At this point a large stone scroll case fell on Jin’s toe and Onyx faded away. Copper opened the scroll case and found within a map showing the location of Fort Fire Opal and remembered upon seeing the map and the forts proximity to the dwarven town of Hammerfast that the adventurer’s guild had a job advertised to escort a caravan travelling in that direction. Working for Garwin Goldspinner, a name familiar to Hao Shu, to help him and some greenhorn dwarven hammerers escort a batch of Hydra blood (a key ingredient for healing potions) to the city of Hammerfast. The adventurer’s decided to take up this escorting duty and set out the next morning with Jin and Hao Shu taking point in front of the caravan. Three days of boring uneventful travel on well defended and well maintained roads later they arrived in Inzerta and the tavern/inn called the Hog’s Head. They split themselves and the dwarven greenhorns into 6 shifts and kept watch during the night. As the evening moved on the night grew first chilly then frigid and back to chilly again, unfortunately, some of the party were not adequately prepared for this and felt the chill more than the others (losing a healing surge). In the morning they discovered one of the greenhorns had disappeared. They attempted to track him in the mud without much success but, did get a clue from via Copper’s intimidation of guards at the gate. Apparently, the missing greenhorn bribed one of them to allow him through to the otherside on the pretense that he had a fiancee on that side of the town. A fiancee that none of his companions were aware of for they held no additional knowledge. It was decided that the loss of one guard wasn’t going to have a particularly negative affect on the outcome of the mission and that the group should set off in order to get ahead of some bad weather that Jin had detected. Thus the group was well on it’s way when a blizzard struck out of nowhere and caused a terrible confusion on them all. They stumbled about for a little while and got turned around a few times but, eventually they used the combined strength of the two women to plow a path through the accumlating snow drifts and Terios was able to note that some of the effects of the Blizzard were in fact illusory. Unfortunately, none of this managed to forewarn the group of the impending ambush and just as they cleared the edge of the blizzard they were set upon by orcs and ogres of Clan Karruck.

The Beginning of Things

It is All God’s the 18th of Full Bloom and our heroes will shortly be gathering at the Golden Raven Inn in the Independent City State of Gilstan. Three years ago they had all gone their separate ways, to accomplish individual goals and find new friends and companions. Some of them will be returning scarred by their experiences, others with a new found confidence. Jin now knows that there are others of his kind somewhere in the world but, will he see this as new hope or loss of his uniqueness. Will Copper who has spent three futile years searching for fellow warforged be jealous of what Jin has discovered or will it seemly renew his determination? Will Telios spread the word of Erik far enough and wide enough to truly earn D’Erik’s respect or is he just using his religion as an excuse to escape serving in the army of his home nation? What of the still mysterious Hao Shu? Will he confess to Visha the true nature of her family or will he allow her to live in ignorance? Can Xena as talented as she is really rid the world of undead? What does Vecna think of her quest or are is he too busy celebrating the unbalancing of the pantheon to care about the affairs of mere living flesh?

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
